Stabilimento Testa has a long and successful history in the development and production of active ingredients. Today the Company is mainly specialized in the production of Natural Caffeine Anhydrous, coming 100% from vegetable sources (coffee or tea), Green Coffee and Green Tea Extracts.


Strategically located in Northern Italy, Stabilimento Testa exports more than 90% of the total output, being present in more than 20 Countries all over the world.


The raw caffeine used in the process is obtained as by-product of coffee and tea decaffeination processes; it is refined through subsequent crystallization in water steps up to natural caffeine according to EP/USP Pharmacopeia grade.

The Rainforest Alliance Certified™ seal is awarded to farms that are required to meet rigorous environmental, economic and social standards.

Green Caffeine® - Café del Colombia

Starting from 2018, Stabilimento Testa is offering Natural Caffeine specially from Colombian origin.


The Colombian coffee production is supported and regulated by the Colombian Coffee Growers Federation (FNC) which supports coffee growers nationwide through education programs, technical assistance and advice, rural infrastructure building as well as commercial support and some others which all benefit the farmer. 


Our Green Caffeine® - Café del Colombia is obtained from coffee beans coming from sustainable agriculture and it is dedicated to the users who require a responsible supply chain.


It is an added value that delivers to users the awareness that, when buying this product, they are in the same breath to procure the well-being of the Colombian coffee growers through an effective trade union organization, democratic and representative.

Green Caffeine® ORG

Our Natural Organic Caffeine is obtained from green coffee beans by water extraction, caffeine content about 50%.


It can be well employed as ingredient for natural energy drinks, sport nutrition formulations and supplements.
It is appreciated for its characteristic composition, rich in antioxidant as chlorogenic acid.


Green Caffeine® ORG shows a good solubility in water with a characteristic taste profile.

Stabilimento Testa since 1885

Stabilimento Farmaceutico Cav. G. Testa started in 1885 as a pharmaceutical laboratory, producing remedies on a small industrial basis.


The traditional pharmaceutical items have been gradually abandoned in the 40’s, and since 1950 the company has developed active principles: natural caffeine, theobromine, cocoa butter and cocoa powder.


In 1994 all the producing facilities were moved from Albenga to the factory located in Leca.


In the last six decades, from 1960 on, Testa became one of the biggest producers of natural caffeine anhydrous extracted from raw materials of different forms and concentrations coming as a by-product of the decaffeination of coffee and tea.


Testa has finally restructured its activity concentrating on the production and sales of pure Natural Caffeine Anhydrous, Green Coffee and Green Tea Extracts as well as Theobromine.


In 2012 Testa moved to the actual factory, located near the highway exit and the new planned Albenga railway node:  this will allow easy movement of goods to and from the new plant.


The area has an extension of 11.200 m2, 2500 m2 of which are covered by the new plant.


Additional enlargement of 2000 m2 is forecasted in the future.


Today the company employs more than 30 people, exports more than 90% of its total output and counts within its customers a number of well-known multinationals.


The company is ISO 9001:2008 and BRC certified and its production is in accordance with HACCP. All the products are Kosher certified.
