When Covid-19 took hold, the way many in the food industry worked transformed overnight. White-collar staff found their homes became offices and, at least for some, those changes have become a permanent part of their working week.
Blue-collar employees couldn’t perform their jobs in the same way but the pandemic has meant changes for their roles – and encouraged food manufacturers to look more seriously at automation.
Many food groups are investing more in production technologies, including in the meat sector, which is seen as one of the hardest in which to innovate in this way. We sat down with Tyson Foods to discuss its significant investment in the area.
Elsewhere, with the war in Ukraine now in its second year, Just Food dug into some of the supply-chain pressures facing food manufacturers.
