Mediterranean polyphenols, reimagined: how Alvinesa is shaping the next generation of nutraceutical innovation

From olive hydroxytyrosol to premium grape OPCs and now Teralive®, Alvinesa is building a new generation of nutraceutical ingredients where science, sustainability and Mediterranean identity come together.

In nutraceuticals, the most valuable innovations are rarely the loudest. They are the ones that connect scientific substance with cultural relevance, technical credibility with consumer appeal, and product performance with a story the market is ready to believe in.

This is the space where Alvinesa has built its identity. Rooted in the Mediterranean and shaped by circular economy principles, the company has developed a distinctive platform of natural ingredients from olive and grape by-products, transforming these botanical sources into high-value solutions for human nutrition. What emerges is more than a portfolio of extracts. It is a coherent vision of how Mediterranean polyphenols can be translated into modern nutraceutical innovation.

Hytolive®, Vintera® and Teralive® represent Alvinesa’s vision of science-backed, sustainable Mediterranean polyphenol innovation.

That vision is expressed through three complementary ingredients: Hytolive®, Vintera®, and the newly introduced Teralive®.

Hytolive® represents Alvinesa’s expertise in olive-derived hydroxytyrosol, one of the Mediterranean’s most recognized polyphenols. Its positioning is supported by clinical work in adults with prediabetes, where supplementation was evaluated in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 49 participants aged 40–70 over 16 weeks. According to the study, Hytolive® showed statistically significant differences in seven biomarkers associated with oxidative stress, inflammation and metabolic homeostasis, reinforcing its relevance for cardiovascular protection, anti-aging and metabolic health.

Where Hytolive® reflects the strength of the olive tree, Vintera® Premium OPC expresses the value of the grape. Obtained from grape seeds and standardized in polyphenols, especially oligomeric proanthocyanidins, Vintera® is positioned as a premium grape extract for nutraceutical and functional food applications. Its appeal lies not only in its concentration and standardization, but also in the way it is produced: through a water extraction, solvent-free process, using by-products from the wine industry in line with circular economy principles. The supporting material highlights its scientific background, full traceability and Mediterranean origin, while also pointing to a clinical study in sports recovery showing a 29% reduction in exercise-induced muscle soreness at 48 hours post-exercise versus placebo at 600 mg/day. Its application landscape extends across sports recovery, cardiovascular health, general wellbeing and beauty from within.

Individually, Hytolive® and Vintera® already define two strong botanical territories. Together, they create the foundation for something more ambitious. This is the idea behind Teralive®.

Alvinesa’s circular economy model transforms olive and grape co-products into high-value natural ingredients, combining sustainability, renewable energy and Mediterranean polyphenol expertise.

With Teralive®, Alvinesa moves from ingredient expertise to formulation concept. Presented under the idea of Mediterranean Polyphenol Synergy, Teralive® combines olive hydroxytyrosol and grape polyphenols in one premium solution, translating the strengths of both ingredients into a new market-facing proposition. In editorial terms, this is perhaps the most significant step in the portfolio: not simply adding another extract, but creating a more elevated concept built around complementarity, Mediterranean identity and premium differentiation.

Teralive® speaks directly to a key direction in today’s nutraceutical market: the growing demand for ingredients with stronger relevance in women’s health. Brands are increasingly looking for solutions that combine efficacy with a clear positioning in areas such as beauty from within, healthy aging and daily wellness. In this context, Teralive® offers a timely answer, bringing together the familiarity of two trusted botanical families, the sophistication of a combined polyphenol approach and the sustainability credentials that increasingly shape purchasing decisions across the value chain.

What makes this portfolio especially compelling is its internal coherence. Hytolive® offers a clinically supported olive polyphenol platform. Vintera® brings the richness of premium grape OPCs, supported by sustainability and application breadth. Teralive® then extends both into a next-generation concept with stronger emotional and commercial resonance.

For Alvinesa, this is not just a sequence of product launches. It is the articulation of a broader point of view: that the future of nutraceutical innovation will belong to ingredients able to unite science, naturality, sustainability and market meaning. Mediterranean polyphenols are uniquely positioned to do exactly that. And in Hytolive®, Vintera® and Teralive®, Alvinesa is showing how that future can be built.

Mining fire hazards are significantly lower

According to Mark Ryan, vice president of equipment offering and new technology at Normet Group: “Looking at underground fire statistics, there’s a paper written by the University of Queensland in 2018. It highlighted the main causes of fires underground, and 46 of 80 cases were caused by the diesel engine due to the huge amount of heat that they generate.”

This heat comes from the exhaust manifold and turbochargers, which are eliminated with battery-electric technology. Additionally, SmartDrive removes the need for fuel load, which would normally carry up to 300 litres of fuel. Overall, this drastically reduces the risk of fire.
